Bedbug infestation – a major problem
Bedbugs are also spreading significantly in Europe. They are often carried unnoticed from a hotel room, mountain hut or Airbnb accommodation in luggage.
If left undetected, they spread rapidly throughout the entire flat or residential complex within a week (a female bedbug produces up to 500 eggs, which in turn spread).
The effects include restless sleep due to bites or blood residue from the bites on clothing or bedding.
Early diagnosis of the infestation is essential to limit the spread and consequential costs of this parasite. Previous methods such as antigen tests are unreliable and non-specific.
