Citizen Science

We are specialists in the planning and implementation of citizen science and school-related projects.

By involving the population in cooperation with scientists, valuable data is generated that provides information on the condition of a habitat. This can be used both for planning and for monitoring the success of biodiversity-promoting measures.

The combination of citizen science and eDNA analyses is particularly effective because it enables broad public participation in scientific or conservation projects while using state-of-the-art technologies to gain fact-based insights into ecosystems and their changes.

Our kits are easy to use and contain everything you need for successful sampling. The instructions are available in both protocol and video format and have been tried and tested with non-experts to ensure high sample quality.

We are happy to help you successfully implement your Citizen Science project.

The frog in the drop of water

Thanks to a broad-based campaign, almost 1,500 Citzen Scientists applied throughout Austria, 97% of the 1,120 kits sent out were returned to us as filter samples. In them, eDNA from 18 different amphibians could be detected. Unfortunately, 11% of the waters also tested positive for the presence of the amphibian fungus Bd.
